Got work???

June 14th

Well I am working right now. Amazing, huh, they let you update your blog at work! I am working at a gallery in Le Marais. Not very busy here. I am filling in for a friend that works here part time. I'll take it! I work today and tomorrow. I will be on the list as a sub when my friend can't or doesn't want to work. So, tonight I am meeting my french friend tonight for Salsa dancing. It should be fun.

Jr. League on Steroids....

So, my new friend that I met at church invited me to a tea at the Residence of the American Ambassdor to France. Okay?! It was yesterday afternoon and a beautiful day in Paris. I show up looking as cute as possible. And am escorted in by the Gendarmes (french police) This place is gorgeous! I wish I could have taken pictures. It is the most beautiful mansion I have ever been in. I was seated near the back and listened to a boring speach by a really old lady. Then spotted my friend who saved a seat at the front for me. We sat in a room with french doors 3 sides of the room which were open to their gardens that looked like a movie. Then in came the trio of women that sang and a floutist? and guitar player played some pieces that were a mix of Tango and Classical. It was beautiful. I felt like I was at the white house in Paris... ou est Laura Bush??? :) My friend said that the x-wife of one the french presidents was there and we should make an excuse to go and meet her. Okay why not? So, we went up to her (Madame Valery Giscard d'Estaing) and told her we would like to volunteer with her organization (which I didn't even know she had one) Something to do with children. Anyway, she said she only takes professional volunteers. I guess JLC did not qualify me for French volunteering. DAMN! She said she could use us to stuff envelopes. And to think I used to pray for that job at JLC now I don't want it b/c I need to meet people. Anyway, she was pretty nice and spoke perfect english. After the trio and french ass kissing we were off to have tea in the other room. Can you say the nicest spread ever? Much better than any wedding reception I have ever been to. The finger foods and pastries all looked like flowers. Almost too good to eat but I indulged. We met some more very nice people mostly wearing designer clothes that I have been drooling over in the windows! Who are these people? Anyway, we decided to tour the premises b/c the art work is famous here. By the way, this residence is formerly owned by the Rothschilds. Does that give you a hint to what we are dealing with here? The art work and detailing of the walls, ceiling, etc was like a museum. After the tour was over we were outta there, they had another group coming in for some other cause. I think I was there for some children's charity. So, we left and ran errands for hours all over paris and finished the day with a cold glass of Brouilly (very good chilled red wine) at Cafe de Flore in St. Germaine and watched the world go by. Not a bad day!
